Carl Pledger is an artist.
He grew up in the Philadelphia area and out of high school joined the Marine
Corps, putting his pursuit of an Art degree on hold. There he had the very proud
distinction to serve in the Presidential Helicopter Squad. Traveling with President
Clinton, Carl was a part of the ceremonial service that you often see on television and a part of the logistical planning
team that made Presidential travel around the world possible.
After his tour and travels he found new passion in house painting. He started as an apprentice and worked his way up the industry learning the fundamentals
of painting. Working on historical restoration projects was a bright light in
his early career and allowing him the opportunity for more challenging work. As
customers began requesting faux finishing, Carl—the artist at heart—quickly found his “home” within
the painting world.
He decided to take the
business leap in the year 2002 and went into business for himself. With a strong
painting background, he wanted to know more about the high end plasters and other specialized faux finishing products that
were just becoming available on the market. He has received certifications from
numerous product lines including: Safra Italian Plasters, Texston Plasters, American
Clay Earth Plasters, and Armourcoat Architectural Coatings. He is also a trained
applicator of Faux Effects finishing products and continues his education with a great thirst for product knowledge and spends
many studio hours creating his own signature finishes.
